Chaibasa (Jharkhand), 2009 May 11 (PTI) After inviting a 20-year-old girl for a river side feast, 10 college students allegedly gang raped her at a village about, 150 km from Ranchi.

 

One of the students, Sanjay Barrik, who is known to the girl, had invited her for the feast arranged by his friends near Roro river near Patahatu village yesterday, Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Jha said today.

 

Barrik first raped the girl, hailing from Patahatu, followed by the other nine, and her ordeal lasted for about two hours from about 5.30 pm, the FIR lodged by the girl with the Muffosil police station, said.

 

After the FIR was lodged, the police raided some locations and arrested all accused from a lodge in Xavier Nagar, close to Patahatu, last night and were remanded in jail custody today. They were drunk, Jha said.

 

The girl, who informed her family members of her ordeal after reaching home, was sent for medical examination today.

 

All the accused are intermediate students with a Chaibasa College and hailed from separate villages in the district, Jha said.
